MATT KOTLARCZYK
Matt grew up in a family of golf professionals, planning to continue this lineage. After deciding a life on the green in plaid and argyle was not for him, he pursued his other love-art and design. Matt earned his BFA from The University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, Art & Planning (DAAP) where he studied sculpture and design.
The combination of art and design has been a topic of many debates, one from which Kotlarczyk has not backed down-ask him to show you his stitches from one such incident.
Kotlarczyk opened Refined Sugar Studio in 2007 as a collective of functional art and design. Refined Sugar Studio made its debut at the 2008 International Contemporary Furniture Fair(ICFF), presenting a collection of sculptural, functional objects-with both one-of-a kind and limited edition creations.
Matt Kotlarczyk and Refined Sugar Studio have garnered numerous art and design awards and recognition from both print and electronic publications, blogs, art and design institutions.
He maintains his sporting lifestyle and golf game while living in Cincinnati, Ohio
